Hearing Devices
Do you have a hearing aid? Our terminal building is equipped with an audio loop to ensure you can hear what's going on in the terminal without any background noise. Please contact our team on 07 4945 0480 for more information.
Wheelchair Assistance
If you are a passenger requiring assistance inside the terminal building, or boarding your flight, please contact your airline.
Disability Parking
Dedicated disability parking spaces are located in the first row of the public car park, directly opposite the terminal building.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Whitsunday Coast Airport is now proudly participating in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard scheme. This means that those with a hidden disability can wear a Sunflower lanyard or other merchandise to make their disability visible to those around them while transiting through the airport. Airport and airline staff have been trained to identify the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, gain a deeper understanding of hidden disabilities and learn how to approach and support passengers with a hidden disability.
Find our more about the Sunflower at www.hiddendisabilitiesshop.com.au or contact Whitsunday Coast Airport via email wca@wrc.qld.gov.au at least 3 business days prior to travel for your complimentary lanyard.
Therapy Dog
Whitsunday Coast Airport is proud to introduce GJ, our Chief Passenger Pawfficer (aka Therapy Dog). GJ is a welcome addition to the terminal, bringing comfort, calm and plenty of tail wags to travellers passing through the airport.
Trained and assessed to confidently handle busy public environments, GJ is available to offer friendly interactions, gentle support and a reassuring presence for anyone feeling nervous, overwhelmed or simply in need of a moment of connection during their journey. Whether it’s pre-flight jitters or just a long day of travel, a quick pat with GJ can make all the difference.
Therapy dogs in airports have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve overall wellbeing and make the travel experience more pleasant for people of all ages. Beyond supporting passengers, this initiative reflects Whitsunday Coast Airport’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, enhancing the overall travel experience and creating a friendlier, more welcoming atmosphere for our community and visitors alike.
