Whitsunday Coast Airport Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Underway
Whitsunday Regional Council has commenced preliminary works on a new Sewage Treatment Plant at Whitsunday Coast Airport (WCA).
This important infrastructure upgrade, developed alongside the recently completed WCA Master Plan, will support the growing number of travellers arriving in the region.
Initial works to upgrade the treated effluent irrigation field are expected to be completed by mid-June 2025, weather permitting. Construction of the new sewage treatment plant and associated sewerage infrastructure upgrades is scheduled to begin later this year.
Visitors to the airport may notice increased construction activity in the area, however, all works will be carefully managed to avoid disruption to airport operations.
This project is proudly funded by Whitsunday Regional Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through the Works for Queensland program.
